In an interview in 2006 in Camera Arts, Arthur Meyerson said, "I have always felt my most successful photographs are like short stories." Indeed, many of his images are like conversations shared with the viewer, layer by layer, where a character or object comes to life and is "learned" in a familiar but unexpected way. A self-proclaimed "photoholic", Meyerson has employed a pioneering eye for color to become a member of Nikon's "Legends Behind the Lens" list of America's finest photographers. He has been named by Adweek "Southwest Photographer of the Year" 3 times and American Photo selected him as one of the top photographers in advertising. But it is his non-commercial work that has set him apart and elevated his images to something transcendent, photographs illuminated by a kind of spiritual grace. Obsessed with the value of color, a formal request for compositional structure and a knack for narrative, the best images have the feel of a Raymond Carver or Richard Ford story.
